Construction Management of the Soundview Family YMCA in Branford, a 38,000 sq ft recreational facility which included two swimming pools. This construction project began with a sustainable and integrated design process. O,R&L teamed up with the YMCA building committee, architects, engineers and various consultants to develop a constructability plan that resulted in a high performance building delivered on time and under budget.
This building project incorporated many high performance green building strategies including: a co-generation unit providing alternate energy for on-site electricity production; 84% recycled/reclaimed construction debris diverted from the waste stream; insulated foam core panels used in the walls and roof; high performance glazing in windows and doors; high efficiency lighting and mechanical equipment. Environmental site initiatives included a retention pond created to lower the impact of runoff to the onsite ponds and streams.
