Bob Owens, President/CEO of O,R&L Facility Services and his team joined Mayor Bob Buckhorn for a sign unveiling ceremony to signify the start of construction on the Kennedy Boulevard Plaza Segment of the Tampa Riverwalk in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park on Tuesday, June 4th.
Brownstone Tampa Partners, LLC, an investment partnership with O,R&L owns the CapTrust Building located on the MacDill Riverfront segment of the Tampa Riverwalk. The company was recognized in February 2012 by the Friends of the Tampa Riverwalk for their expedient completion of a seawall project which allowed the City to move forward for the Riverwalk's over-the-water segment around the investment partnership's CapTrust Building.
"This is the culmination of the work of six mayors and 40 years, and represents the next chapter in Tampa’s waterfront. The completion of the Riverwalk will allow us to showcase our riverfront and act as a catalyst for private sector development," said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. "This final phase could not have happened without the support of the Obama Administration. We are grateful for their confidence in Tampa and for recognizing what an integral part the river plays in our city."
It will take 18 months to complete the project, which is scheduled to be open to the public in November 2014.
